Everyday, I take my FlipCam out with me looking for moments of spontaneous inspiration or just something beautifully simple. This past Saturday, I happened upon “Street Beats” outside of San Francisco’s Ferry Building.
Street Beats is John F. King II, a local performer who, on Saturday, was rocking out on an amazing makeshift drum set, built out of trashcans and various household objects. For more on King, visit http://www.kingdrums.com/.
Created on February 5, 2011 using FlipShare.
Mia Doi Todd. “Open Your Heart.” directed by Michel Gondry. 2010
Florence (sans the Machine) made a surprise appearance at a recent Drake show in London for a medley of “Fireworks” and “Cosmic Love.” While it is cool watching a performance between two artists who are innovators in different genres, I’m also intrigued by the moments the camera pulls back and you can see the sheer number of smart phones and flip cameras capturing the moment. It is interesting how affordable and accessible technology makes us want to document moments as much as, if not more than, living in them. Just a few years ago, this moment would be something only the people who witnessed it would be able to talk about. Now, it has been immortalized. I just received a flip cam and hope to capture such magic moments as they happen.
The Streets. “Trust Me.” 2010
